Its Helvetica's 50th Anniversary this year. In light of the occassion, I found this quote, which I find particularly succinct.
"Helvetica=Toblerone. A simple classic that's Swiss in origin (like a Toblerone). Easy to digest (like a Toblerone). My favourite character is capital 'A' (uncannily similar to a cross section of a Toblerone). M'mmmmmmmmmmm Toblerone"
